Balthazar Blake(Nicolas Cage) adalah penyihir di Manhattan masa kini,
berusaha untuk mempertahankan kota tersebut dari musuhnya, Maxim Horvath(Alfred Molina).
balthazar tidak bisa melakukannya sendiri, akhirnya ia pun merekrut Dave Stutler(Jay Baruchel),
lelaki biasa yang nampaknya memiliki potensi tersembunyi- sebagai anak didiknya.
penyihir pemula ini menjalani kursus kilat dalam seni dan ilmu sihir,
dan mereka bekerjasama untuk menghentikan kekuatan jahat itu.

Balthazar Blake (Nicolas Cage) is a master sorcerer in modern-day Manhattan trying to defend the city from his arch-nemesis, Maxim Horvath (Alfred Molina). Balthazar can’t do it alone, so he recruits David Stutler (Jay Baruchel), a seemingly average guy who demonstrates hidden potential as his reluctant protégé.
